I am Nafise Motlaq, a self-taught photographer, born in Iran in 1980. I have been shooting since I was 18, and started my career working as a trainee reporter in one of Iran’s newspapers, but after a few months, I felt more passion for photography than writing.

I worked for some newspapers and magazines in Iran as a photojournalist for almost five years; then I decided to leave Iran to continue my education in 2004. Now I live with my husband in Malaysia, where I studied Master of Journalism.

 

I’m involved in social and documentary photography more than news, despite my education in journalism. Women right is one of my favorite subjects, but I’m not a feminist. Human communication is my passion and I wish to discover it more through photography.
